Food truck serving Tibetan cuisine
‘Chaska – let the taste begin’ is a food truck situated near Thiruvanmiyur Beach. The black truck sporting colourful graffiti serves Tibetan and Chinese street food. The food truck is run and operated by Rakesh Raj, who likes to be addressed as Rikki. He helps the customers with their orders.
“My mother was an executive chef at Park Hotel. She inspired me to enter the food industry. The lack of proper food trucks in Chennai prompted me to start one here. The spices used in the dishes are sourced from Kalim Pong to give the authentic flavor. All the fillings and sauces are prepared by the chefs,” says Rikki.
The menu features momos- steamed, fried and pan fried, noodles, rice and a variety of sides in veg and non veg. Kothe, thupka gyathuk, triple rice, crispy chili potato, crispy chicken meat ball and double egg cheese fried with sweet chili dip are some of their specialties.
The truck will be operating from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. For details, call 99628 69999 and 91760 89999.
