Special pooja for copious rainfall: The Karpagam Gardens Ladies Club is organising Ashwa Pooja at Karpaga Vinayagar temple on July 22, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. This pooja is to invoke Lord Varuna, who is the Rain God. The pooja will be followed by Soundarya Lahari Paraynam and a special abhishekam to Devi Bhuvaneshwari with 100 different ingredients. All are welcome. Tamil Play at Alliance Francaise of Madras: Shree Thaayaar Kalai Koodam will present the theatre ‘Naataru’ at 3 p.m. The play is for above 16 audience only. Narayaneeya Satsang Samiti, led by Meena Vaikundan, will be holding its 11th Annual Narayaneeya Triaham on July 26th, 27th and 28th from 9 a.m. to 1.p.m. Every day will commence with the chanting of Vishnu Sahasranamam, Lalita Sahasranamam and select verses from Devi Mahatmyam followed by intense and devotional chanting of all the 100 chapters from Srimad Narayaneeyam (spread over 3 days) and select chapters of Bhagavad Gita along with Linga abhishekam and Govinda Abhisekham. Devotees of all ages are welcome to come and celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna and Rukmini Swayamvaram (held like a typical wedding with all rituals like exchanging garlands, oonjal, pidi sutral, kalyana seer and tying the mangalyam) with soul-stirring bhajans and songs. Cardiac Wellness Institute is conducting a half-day workshop on ‘Mind Heart Connection’ to help people improve their mental wellbeing and cardiac health from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Participants will get to learn on how to use the mind to enhance health from the psychologist, and finally practice heart-friendly asanas under the guidance of an experienced yoga instructor in the workshop.
