Bi-lingual storytelling event

Goethe Institut, in cooperation with Karadi Tales, is organising a bilingual (English & German) storytelling session on Children’s Day, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m.

Storytellers Janaki Sabesh and Geetha Lakshman will recreate a delightful tale from the featured book, ‘The Rumour’ by Anushka Ravishankar and will explore the ills of gossip mongering in the most hilarious way. Children from 4 to 8 years can participate. At the Library, Goethe Institut, 4, Rutland Gate, 5th Street, Nungambakkam.


Celebrating Children’s Day

The Book Office is celebrating children’s day with some intriguing stories told through the beautiful art of Shadow Puppetry on Nov.14 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

This unique form of storytelling is the oldest type of puppetry in the world enjoyed by children and adults alike. You wouldn’t want to miss this show. Open to children above 5 years. At 9, 4th Street, Venkateshwara Nagar, Adyar.


Play at Black Box Studio

Alchemy Theatre is presenting their critically acclaimed play ‘One Degree Second’ from Nov.16 to 18, at the Black Box Studio, Adyar. The play is about the complex interweaving of time, luck and fate, and how that can change the course of our destiny. It revolves around a middle-aged couple, a lawyer, a social activist, a corporate worker and a politician – their everyday conversations – and how they soon discover that there is more to what they see.

Tribal art workshop

Luwak Workspace is conducting a workshop on Tribal Art for children on Nov.11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. At the workshop, the children will be guided to create their own Indian Warli art. With lines, circles, squiggles and triangles, kids will love to make up their own scenes as the figures are always in action – dancing, cooking, climbing trees, ploughing, and fishing which adds to the fascination of kids.

Painting competition and Kaviarangam

Thiruvanmiyur Kerala Samajam is conducting a Painting competition and Kaviarangam by Chennai Kavi Sangamam at Youth Hostel. The drawing and painting competition will be held on Nov.18 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and the Kaviarangam will be from 10.30 a.m.to 12 noon. Registration fee is Rs.50. Art appreciation workshop

Forum Art Gallery, Adyar is conducting an Art Appreciation workshop for children above 5 years on Nov.17. At the workshop, the children will explore the works of John James Audubon, the American painter of birds, who spent countless hours outdoors watching birds and their behavior.
